Being Resilient In Our Faith – Thought For The Week

Ellie shares her thought for the week; being resilient in our faith.

So only last week our youth team took 30 young people to Staffordshire’s showground for Limitless Festival. It was full of fun and we encountered God and also it was full of zip lines and foam parties!

All of this fun came with a price. Aaron and Kit worked really hard; they put up 20 tents in the pouring rain and this took resilience. I think we underestimated how hard it actually was and I heard that they wanted to give up a few times but they carried on because they knew in the end it would be worth it that these young people would be able to sleep in these tents and get those experiences that they did at this camp.

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.”

James 1:12

So we need to be resilient with our walk of God and not just put the tent straight back in the bag as soon as it gets hard. And camping nowadays consists of fairy lights and we had like a little place where could plug your phone in, even some blow-up tents! And at the end of the week, all of these tents got put down – you wouldn’t even know anything had happened in that field!

Sometimes our life can be a little bit like camping, we can make it look as flashy as we want, we can have the new newest phone, the newest car and we could have all the new gadgets. However, we’re only there for a short stay because God has a mansion ready for us and waiting. And we need to be resilient in our faith, knowing that whatever hardships that we might go through, God has got that mansion ready for us. It will be all worth it in the end when we are with Jesus. So I want to say to you today, be resilient in your faith this week, in this year, and in your life.
