Esther shares her thought for the week; simplify your life.
In my previous Thought for the Week, I shared my conversation with God about ‘Running on Empty‘. It was an informative experience, and I learnt so much. But it got me thinking again regarding other things in my life that sometimes take my peace and tranquillity away. So, I decided to continue with a part two!
I wanted to share some thoughts on how technology can sometimes affect our peace and tranquillity. We all know that technology can be a great tool, but it can also become overwhelming with constant notifications from emails, texts, tweets, and blogs. And don’t even get me started on passwords! I don’t know about you, but trying to remember different passwords can become tedious, and before you know it, time is ticking by. The time I have lost I could have been chilling with the good book.
It’s essential to remember that things that are meant to help us daily can sometimes lead us straight into the enemy’s hands. The distractions can take us away from doing the Lord’s work or our daily duties. Instead, we can turn to Jesus, who promises us rest if we come to Him with our heavy burdens.
His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.
Matthew 11:30
Looking to Jesus means relying on Him, focusing our gaze on Him with confidence or “fixing our eyes on Him,” as Hebrew 12 says
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.
Hebrews 12:2
Simplifying our lives can also help us focus on what’s truly important. That may mean working fewer hours, scheduling downtime, and spending time with loved ones. Phil Cooke, a Christian author, and leadership expert once said that God can’t relieve our pressure if we’re in the wrong place, at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing, with the wrong people. By staying in God’s will, we can work hard while letting Him carry our burdens that way we can travel light.
My suggestion for you today is to simplify your life. Take some time to reflect on what’s truly important to you and focus on that.
