This week our thought for the week is a poem written by Liz Cooper, entitled Hope.
In the darkness, amidst all anxiety,
Amidst any sadness and all loneliness,
There is a candle flame burning bright,
It may flicker, it may seem dimmed by building circumstances,
But it won’t ever go out,
It will burn brighter and brighter,
For it is fueled from a supernatural source,
Expanding and filling the dark spaces in our lives with peace,
Flooding everything with light,
For that light is hope,
And that hope is named Jesus Christ,
He is the Light of the World,
And His light cannot be ignored,
Though the enemy may try to steal joy,
And fill our hearts with doubt and fear,
He is no match for our victorious Saviour,
Jesus’s light burns brighter than any sun,
And by His Holy Spirit He lights us up too,
To signal to others the way back to God,
So, don’t hide it like a lamp under a basket,
Let His light and hope burn brightly for all to see,
And shine, be a beacon of hope,
For all to know His redemption and love,
His freedom from all that binds us,
And joy and peace for all eternity.
