George shares his thought for the week; God won’t let you down.
The old adage goes that we shouldn’t meet our heroes. Why? Because when we meet them, they might just let us down.
They might live up to the dreams that we had of them, be they politicians, authors, composers or pop stars. When we meet them, they might just let us down.
And even in our own personal lives, there are people that we sometimes put on pedestals. I often say that a pedestal is a very precarious place to be because we all let each other down at one time or another.
But the Bible tells us that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. You will find that in Proverbs 18. Who is that friend who sticks closer than a brother? It’s Jesus. It’s referring to Jesus.
In Matthew 28, we have the words that Jesus recorded for us where he says,
I will be with you even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20
We can be certain that Jesus will never let us down.
And in Psalm, chapter 118, we read,
It’s better to take refuge in the Lord than to take refuge in man.
Psalm 118:8-9
It’s better to take refuge in the Lord, even to take refuge in princes.
So the Lord is someone in whom we can trust wholly, and he is someone who will never let us down.
So as I finish this little thought for the week, I’ll go to Proverbs chapter 3, verse 5 and 6, which just says this,
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Have a really good week.
