Billy shares his thought for the week on Jesus – the King of Kings.
Yesterday you had the King’s Speech and I’m sure you enjoyed listening to King Charles. Well, today you are having my speech!
My ‘speech’ is about the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords because I want you to focus as we come into a new year to understand the knowledge of His Kingdom. In Matthew chapter 6, we have the King’s Manifesto and if we know Jesus as our King and as our Saviour and Lord then we will know something of the language of the Kingdom and what a way to start a new year as we approach a new year is to understand that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords and He said,
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”
Matthew 6:25, 33-34
33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow.”
As we face a new year in the coming days, do not worry about tomorrow. Do not fret. Why? Because the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords has given us a manifesto whereby we can live lives knowing that He is reigning on high. Jesus teaches us not how to avoid being preoccupied with the cares of this world, of what we eat, how we labor, about what we wear. Seek first, He said, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. And the antidote to this consuming anxiety that we might have for tomorrow is to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
And so that’s my message as we end this year and as we face a new year. Understand the King is reigning. It is King Jesus. He is King who reigns over all things. And no matter what the future may bring, no matter what tomorrow may bring, we know that He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. And so the challenge as we face a new year in the coming days is the King reigning in your life. As Kingdom people, we can bring hope to a broken world. So don’t reject the King’s message, but seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. And the King says to you, ‘And all these things shall be added to you.’ God bless you.
