Aaron shares his thought from the week; sing to the Lord a new song.
So sing to the Lord a new song.
Psalm 96:1-3
Sing to the Lord all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise his name,
proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvellous deeds among all peoples.
For the last few months, sometimes successfully, sometimes not so much, I have been sitting down to do a bit of songwriting and before I start to do any songwriting, one of the first things that I’ve been trying to do is say “you know what Jesus if nobody ever hears what I’m writing in this room right now then it’s still worth my while what I’m doing because I am singing a song to you”.
The last I checked, Psalm 96 wasn’t specifically addressed to those who were worship leaders, it wasn’t specifically addressed to those who could play instruments, it wasn’t specifically addressed to those who could sing or hold a tune, it says “sing to the Lord all the earth” and “sing to the Lord a new song”.
So I would love to offer ourselves and all of us, including me, a challenge for this week and that challenge is what song, what new song are you singing to the Lord this week? That doesn’t mean if you’re someone who can hold a tune or not, he wants to hear your new song. How are you going to declare his glory among the nations and his marvellous deeds among all peoples?
What is the new song this week that you’re going to sing to the Lord?
Every week one of our members shares a short thought aiming to inspire you for the week. You can watch previous Thought For The Week videos by clicking here.
